Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year™, Philip S. Orsino, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Masonite International Corporation. Masonite is an integrated global building products company with corporate headquarters in Mississauga. The company is primarily engaged in the manufacturing and merchandising of interior and exterior doors and door components. With plants in 12 countries, Masonite sells its products to the home improvement and new construction industries worldwide.

Born in Toronto 1954, Philip Orsino attended Victoria College at the University of Toronto and received a BA in 1976. He became a CA in 1979 and a partner in the firm of Hilborn, Ellis, Grant, Chartered Accountants. In 1997, he was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) in recognition of his achievements.

In 1983, Mr Orsino was a founding partner of Century Wood Door Limited, and in 1984 became President & CEO. The company flourished under his leadership, expanding quickly across Canada but this was just the beginning.

In 1989, Century merged with its largest Canadian competitor, Premdor. With Mr Orsino heading the new Premdor, a period of significant growth began despite the recession of the early 1990’s. Under his leadership Premdor completed over 40 acquisitions in 10 years. In 2001, Premdor completed the acquisition of Masonite Corporation and in January 2002, Premdor officially changed its name to Masonite International Corporation. The company now has sales of $2.5 billion. It is a Canadian company that has achieved world-class stature.

Philip currently serves as a director of the Bank of Montreal and Clairvest Group Inc. He is also a Trustee and Vice-Chairman of the University Health Network and a member of The Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, Advancement Board. He is involved with numerous other community and public service initiatives including the building of the Philip S. Orsino Facility for Cell Therapy at The Princess Margaret Hospital. He has earned numerous prestigious awards and distinctions and also authored a book, Successful Business Expansion: Practical Strategies for Planning Profitable Growth published in 1994 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
